August 2007

Last night was, unfortunately, very eventful. Austin was up twice and we couldn’t console him. He wouldn’t eat much and he was just not having a good night at all. Brittan had to get up at 3 am this morning for a business trip, so he wasn’t too thrilled with the idea of Austin being up all night. Austin seemed to have an alright day at day care, but as soon as I picked him up, he felt hot. I commented on his fever, but the day care employees didn’t seem to notice.

Well, I brought him home and took his temperature. It is 101 and it feels like it’s climbing. I called the NOMS After Hours clinic and they said to give him .8 mL of Infant’s Tylenol. I tried giving him the medicine, but he definitely didn’t want to take it. The poor little guy is heating up, can’ sleep, and doesn’t want to eat. I wish that I could do something more for him. It breaks my heart to see him in pain. Hopefully he will feel better by the morning so he can go to day care. For now, he is in the swing and Brittan should be home around 8 pm from his trip. Life is never dull around here. I just pray that he’ll at least sleep for part of the night!

Here’s Daddy and Austin supporting the Indians. Go Tribe!

Here are some other fun pictures of Aussie.

Jacki took this picture for us before Brittan and I went out to eat for our 1st anniversary. We went to a Jamaican restaurant in town since that is where we went on our honeymoon. The food was okay and the drinks were awesome. (just like at Sandals!) It was nice to have a night out while Jacki was able to watch Aussie.

Good luck defending your thesis, Grandma!

If this isn’t the funniest/cutest crying face I’ve ever seen, I’m not sure what is…

Well…another Thursday night of Austin crying and Brittan away golfing. Austin is like clock-work…always crying on Thursday nights. It’s a good thing that he is so darn cute because I can’t be upset for long after looking at his darling little face. I just peeked in his room to watch him sleep and he is just too perfect. I really am the luckiest mommy in the world. No real plans this weekend. Brittan and I might catch a movie if Vicki is free tomorrow night. I won some free movie tickets from a meeting at work, so it would be a cheap date. On Saturday morning, Brittan has the golf scramble so Austin and I will probably giggle, play with his toys and just hang out.

Austin still hasn’t rolled over yet, but he’s getting closer. He is so fun to watch on the play mat. When I roll him onto his stomach, he gets excited that he can hold his head up and watch everyone. Almost as good as sitting in the Bumbo, but not quite. 🙂 But after about 5 minutes of tummy time, he realizes that he can’t flip back over and he makes the cutest little pouty lip. I took a picture of his sad face that I’ll have to post sometime.

Well, I’m off to do more laundry and clean the house while Austin sleeps soundly.

Austin was an absolute angel this weekend! On Friday night, Grandma and Grandpa Roth and Aunt Caitlin came into town and ordered Chet and Matt’s. Mom and I had California Artichoke and everyone else had the usual hot wing and cheddar. We just relaxed and had a low-key night to gear up for Saturday. Around noon on Saturday Grandma, Caitlin, Austin and I went to Susie’s baby shower at Huron Pizza House while the guys (Grandpa and Brittan) went to Uncle Ron’s Annual Cornhole party. Austin did so well during the entire shower and watched Susie open all of her presents; he is such a curious little guy. He had so much fun watching The only negative thing was when he decided to pee through his diaper. Actually, it didn’t really go through the diaper….it kind of leaked out the side. Probably too much information, but let’s just say it was a good thing that I had brought a change of clothing for Austin and for myself.

After the shower, we met the guys at Uncle Ron’s house and they were already on their way to two tournament victories on the day. We sampled some of the food and Austin watched everyone play cornhole and laughed and played with lots of people who held him. As long as he was changed and fed, he was very happy. It turned out to a cold day and thankfully we brought along a blanket and sweatshirt for Austin. It was windy and started to rain around 7 pm, so we headed home for a little bit.

Here are some pictures from the party:

About 7:30 on Saturday night, Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Caitlin headed back to Ann Arbor while we went to Domanski’s house. Jenna went back to school on Sunday, so it was just a small get together before she went back to Kentucky. We were only there for a few hours, but it was nice to see the Ruthsatz side of the family.

Sunday was such a perfect day (besides the weather of course). We planned to go to mass, but it was like a tsunami outside, so we decided to just stay at home. Austin slept in until 6:20, which was a treat for us. We just spent the entire day with the three of us laughing, napping and just being lazy. I’ve never had a more perfect lazy day with my two favorite boys.
