September 2007

I’m definitely feeling the struggle between balancing work and home life. I love both sides, but it can be very difficult to manage. As you can tell by the time of this post, I haven’t been sleeping lately. Work has been and will be very busy for the next couple months. I appreciate having a job that I love, but sometimes the pressure is just so great. I can’t seem to sleep because I have so many thoughts going through my head. But no matter how little I sleep or how restless I am, Austin always makes me smile. He always has a giant grin to greet me in the morning. I love it. As ironic as it is…I don’t think that I could manage the balance without Aussie.

I can hardly believe that Austin is four months old already. Time really does fly when you’re having fun. 🙂 He finally had a good Thursday night (so far) and I’m enjoying the quiet house. No TV, no music, no crying. Just the fuzzy sound of the monitor and the washing machine in the next room.

Austin is such a great baby. Sometimes I still look at him and wonder how we got so lucky. I attached some picture of him being a stinker today. His shirt describes him perfectly. I also noticed that his eyelashes have been looking quite long lately. I wonder where he got that from…He has recently discovered how much fun his feet are:
Tomorrow is Austin’s 4 month doctor appointment and he is set to get at least 2 shots. I’m a little nervous to watch him in pain. It is hard enough to watch him cry when he’s hungry…let alone letting someone “hurt” him. I’m sure it will be okay, but I just want it to be over with. After the appointment, we are headed to Ann Arbor for the weekend. It will be Austin’s first time out of the state and it will be fun to visit Grandma and Grandpa’s house for the first time. We will be going to the UM game while CCG watches Austin for us. She is such a great aunt! She will also watch him on Friday night since we are going to Casino Night for UM alum. Maybe I’ll see someone from HS? We’ll see.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Here is a picture of Austin when he was sick last week. Daddy was feeding him and and Aussie was completely relaxed with both hands behind his head. It was the cutest thing and of course I had to take a picture. 🙂

Austin has been so wonderful lately. He woke up for a couple nights last week but he was able to cry himself back to sleep. He’s so happy when he wakes up in the morning that it doesn’t matter whether or not we get a full night’s rest.

On the way home from Playland today, he was laughing and talking the whole time. They said that he was very “talkative” today and just happy overall. When we got home, I noticed that he had (somehow) pulled down the toy bar from his carrier. He was playing it like a guitar and I couldn’t help but laugh and take a few pictures. We love our future rock star!
Here are some past pictures of him playing the air guitar:

Austin rolled over for the first time today! We had been practicing for a while, but he always needed a little push. Today, we were playing with the glow worm that he got from his Aunt Jacki, and I put it up higher for him to look at, and he looked up, tucked his shoulder and rolled over! Brittan was in the other room watching the Michigan game, so he just missed it. I was so excited that I yelled to him to come over to watch, but Austin must have been too tired to do it again. (rough life, I know!) Either way, it was exciting for us and hopefully he will do it again soon.

He is going over to Grandma and Grandpa Gill’s today because Brittan and I are going out for Kelly’s 30th birthday. We are going to Friday’s for dinner and then out afterwards….should be a fun time with the gag gifts that we got her. 30 is quite a milestone. 🙂 Happy Birthday, Kelly!

Austin has been feeling much better lately. He almost slept through the night last night like he usually does. He fell asleep around 9 pm but woke up at 4 am and cried for about 45 minutes. He was just tired and we wanted him to cry himself to sleep; that way, he won’t get used to waking up in the middle of the night. He is back to his cute little self and the fever has thankfully gone away.

Since he has been feeling better and it was BEAUTIFUL outside today, we decided to talk Austin downtown for the first time. It was sunny and not too hot, so it was perfect to take him for a walk. We took a few pictures by The Boy With the Boot fountain and walked downtown by the water and looked in the shop windows. We also put the blanket on the ground and played with Austin. It’s funny to think how much my life has changed in the past year. It is exactly one year ago that I found out I was pregnant. Life is going by too quickly!

He loved the fountain, he kept turning his head while we were trying to take the pictures! 🙂
