November 2007

Happy football Saturday! Brittan is trimming the hedges outside and Austin and I are watching College Gameday. Aussie just finished eating his applesauce (with his meds mixed in) and he’s enjoying his exersaucer. He is feeling so much better and you can tell by his happy demeanor. He loves bouncing up and down in his exersaucer and looks to see if anyone notices. He is really starting to play with all of the toys on it and his motor skills have improved greatly. Aussie is so proud of himself when he figures out a new toy or gadget. It is so fun to watch!!

Another new development is that he is “talking” more. His favorite word is “ba-ba”. He doesn’t associate it with his bottle yet, but he loves saying it because he can repeat what we say. Plus, his little cheeks go up and down when he says it. Too cute!

Anyway, last night we went to Ruby Tuesday’s for dinner with Jeff and Libby. Austin did really well until the very end when he started to get tired. We came home and Austin went right to bed. Today should be pretty quiet but tomorrow is the annual shopping trip with Brittan’s family. I’m not sure where we are going yet, but it is always a day-long endeavor and exhausting. Should be fun to continue the Christmas shopping. Yes, I’ve started my Christmas shopping and I already wrapped the couple dozen presents that I bought.

Have a great day!

Austin and I went for his 6 month check-up this afternoon. As you can tell from his pictures, he is a become quite a big boy. I just didn’t expect the doctor to tell me that Austin is in the 90% percentile for both height and weight. What a chunker! 🙂

Anyway, Dr. Dutko said that Austin’s ears are starting to look better and I’m so glad. I remember having ear infections when I was little and it was awful. Hopefully the amoxicillin is working, along with the other meds. Unfortunately, he was put on another medicine today since he still has a bad cough, even after taking the Singulair and the nebulizer medicine. It is technically a steroid and if it works well, the Doctor said that Austin may have asthma. If it doesn’t work, the doctor recommends that we take Austin to get a chest x-ray at the hospital. I don’t know what would be better, asthma or an x-ray to check for something worse. Let’s just hope that the doctor’s wrong about both of options and Aussie just has a bad cold. At least Austin seems to have good spirits through the entire thing and Dr. Dutko called Austin “a happy wheezer”. Too funny. We have to go back on the 19th so they can check his progress. Pray for a healthy boy ASAP.

Hard to believe that Austin is 6 months old today! We absolutely love our little baby boy and we couldn’t be luckier. Look at our cutie acting cool with his hand on his hip. 🙂

It’s just too bad that he has to spend his 6 month “birthday” sick. Actually, he’s had a cough for almost three weeks but in the past week or so, he just hasn’t been himself. He’s had a runny nose, congested chest, isn’t eating well, isn’t sleeping well, and an awful cough. So I finally took him to the Peds yesterday and they diagnosed him with an ear infection and bronchiolitis. They prescribed three different meds: Singulair, Albuterol, and Amoxicillin. It’s the first time he’s been on an antibiotic, so I guess that’s pretty good since he’s been in daycare since he was 9 weeks old. He’s been such a little trooper and I’m so proud of him. I love you, Aussie!!
