March 2009

Although it was still chilly, it turned out to be a sunny afternoon today.  So after dinner, we asked Austin if he wanted to play outside, and of course he said he wanted to play!  He loves playing Wii golf and he is so happy to finally go outside and play “real” golf with his daddy!  Here are some pictures from this afternoon when the boys were playing golf and Adrianna and I were watching.  Check out the adorable pink snow outfit from Grandma Vicki!

Yesterday, Austin went to day care and I took Adrianna to her 1 month check-up. I can hardly believe that she is one month old already! Dr. Wiseman had only good things to say about her progress, which I was glad to hear. When she was dressed in only her diaper, the doctor said “Wow, with a belly like that, she must really be taking to the formula!”. hahaha Yes, it’s true, my little baby girl isn’t so little anymore! She was 8 pounds, 12 ounces and 20.5 inches long.

I asked Dr. Wiseman about her cough and cold-like symptoms that she had over the weekend, and he said that she seemed to be okay. Her lungs and heart both sounded good. He also said that as long as she is sleeping well and eating well, she is okay. Adri was down to eating only 1 ounce at a time over the weekend, but now she is eating 3-4 ounces at each feeding. Our baby girl is trying to catch up to her big brother—but she has a long way to go!

Thankfully, Austin has adjusted really well to his new baby sister. In fact, he is already very protective of her and loves her very much. It’s just so fun to see him develop into a little boy, instead of a little baby. Here are some funny things he has done lately:

Every time he sees a baby sleeping, whether it’s Adrianna or not, he says “shhhh…sister’s sleeping!” too cute. 🙂

Yesterday at mass, he kept wanting to kiss her and give her hugs–it broke my heart! Lately, he likes to point at her nose and say “there?” (as in, can I kiss her there?) Too cute!

On Friday, I was home with Austin and Adrianna while Brittan was at work. I was holding Adrianna in my left arm and Austin was sitting on my right leg. Adrianna was sleeping, but had her arms extended out and her hands in fists. Austin put his fist up to Adrianna’s fist and said “sister, give me the rock!” and then he opened his hand and said “sister, give me fives!” LOL Honestly, he is the funniest/goofiest kid that I know! 🙂

On March 18, a nurse came to our house to check on Adrianna’s progress and to see if she’s growing “on schedule”. Adri’s heart and lungs sounded good and the nurse said that everything seems to be right on track.

Adrianna weighed 8 pounds, 5.5 ounces and was 20.5 inches. It’s hard to believe that she has grown 1.5 inches in less than a month! It’s also funny to think that she still isn’t up to Austin’s birth weight, even though she’s a month old! 🙂 Adrianna has her official 1 month check-up at the peds tomorrow, so I will blog about her stats more later.

I just watched Adrianna’s video of her first days for the first time. I couldn’t stop smiling and crying during the entire video…it is unbelievable how much I love her. From her first moment after birth to watching Austin give his baby sister kisses for the first time, I can’t help but know that I am the luckiest mommy in the world!

Happy (belated) St. Patrick’s Day! Last night, we celebrated the right way—with green beer and reuben sandwiches at The Brass Pelican with the Gill family. We had a great time and all of the kids behaved so well, which made for very happy parents!

After a few days of being home, I was going a little stir-crazy.  I didn’t feel quite ready to take both kids to the store yet, so I decided that going outside to get some fresh air would be our best option.  Thankfully, the weather was beautiful and
