Every day when we get home from day care is an adventure. Austin always has some trick or idea up his sleeve. The other day, he insisted on “driving” the car when we got home. Here is Austin driving and Adrianna laughing at her goofy brother!!

Yesterday, Austin, Adri and I went to Austin’s 2 year check-up. Here are his stats:

Height—34 1/4 inches (50 percentile)
Weight–30 pounds, 4 ounces (75 percentile)
Head circumference—48.5 cm

They were short-staffed at the peds office, so we had to wait even longer than usual. (Note to self: It is not fun dealing with a cranky and hot 3 month old, a hungry and hot 2 year old in a hot, cramped and sterile doctor’s office. Remember to ask Brittan to come to the next appointment for back-up!) Anyway, the doctor was pleased with Austin’s progress and very impressed with his speech and letters and numbers recognition. Dr. Wiseman said that he is closer to a 3 year old’s level of understanding and speech. (Although Austin understands and speaks a lot, he definitely needs to work on his clarity. It is difficult for others to understand what he is saying, although Brittan and I usually know what he’s saying.) Regardless, we are just happy to have such a healthy baby boy.

Adrianna is officially three months today! She is smiling a lot now and is very interested in faces. She is always happy, unless her diaper is dirty or she is hungry. She is our little diva and refuses to have a dirty diaper for more than 5 seconds! lol

She is starting to take a pacifier better, but she still prefers to suck on her fingers. I figure that as long as she is happy, we’re happy! Thankfully, she is also sleeping better, which is making for happy parents! She is not consistently sleeping through the night yet, but we are getting closer. She will go a couple nights in a row and then she’ll need to get up once to eat the next night.

Adrianna is eating about 6 ounces at a time and has been pretty consistent with that. The doctor said that we can start rice cereal at 3 months, so we are going to see how that goes this weekend. I’m hoping that it will be the key for her to sleep through the night EVERY night. 🙂 I don’t want to complain about her getting up because I know that I will really miss the newborn days, but I look forward to getting more than a few hours of sleep at a time!

She still enjoys her swing and will occasionally crane her neck to watch whatever Austin is watching on TV while rocking away. She doesn’t mind sitting in the Bumbo for a minute or two, but then she gets tired and wants out again. We tried the Exersaucer a few times, but she just sits there and watches Austin show her how to use the toys. 🙂 Honestly, her favorite form of entertainment is watching Brittan and I make funny faces (actually, she just smiles and laughs at our normal faces!! haha)

Here are some pictures from her three month “birthday” today. Enjoy!

Yesterday, we went to Cedar Point to get our pictures taken for our 2009 Platinum Passes. We figured that we might as well visit the park while we were there and let Austin burn off some energy. It was sunny, but pretty windy (Austin kept saying, “no, wind, no!”). So we bundled both kids up and only stayed for about 1 hour. Here are some pics:

A few weekends ago, I drove down to southern Ohio to visit some friends and enjoy a weekend without worrying about anyone’s schedule, bedtime or dirty diapers. It is always great to see college friends and pick up right where we left off. On Friday night, I drove to Carrie’s apartment in Dayton. I got to her apartment about 10-10:30 pm and we hung out until Ebeth, Maura and Chad were set to arrive. Well, long story short, it ended up taking them a lot longer to leave Chicago than they expected and they didn’t get into Dayton until the wee hours of the night (according to my mommy schedule!). So by the time that they got there, we just talked for a while and headed to bed to rest up for a fun weekend!

Saturday morning, we drove down to Cincinnati to meet up with Shannon and Justin. We ate at a quaint little organic restaurant, The Wildflower, and it was delicious! I got a Greek quiche complete with feta cheese and spinach—it was so good. Then we headed to downtown Cincy to pick up their race packets for the Flying Pig marathon on Sunday.

Then we headed to Shannon’s parents house for a carbo-loaded meal (especially for the marathon runners!), to watch the Kentucky Derby and to celebrate Shannon’s birthday a few days early.

Then we headed to Bar Thompson (for only the non-runners, of course!) and prepared for the marathon the next day. The non-runners created shirts to cheer on the 6 runners, 3 in the half-marathon (Maura, Carrie and Chad) and 3 in the marathon (Justin, BJ and Chad)

Although we really enjoyed cheering on our friends, it wasn’t all good news. After the race, we were waiting around for Maura for what seemed like forever, and we couldn’t believe that she wouldn’t try to call us. We had our friends check the website for her race progress, but the last time was at the half-way mark. We weren’t sure what happened, but eventually we got a call about what happened. Unfortunately, Maura became dehydrated, passed out around mile 8, and was sent to the hospital via ambulance. As soon as we found out, we went right to the hospital. Here is the hospital location that Chad’s iPhone gave us:

Needless to say, we re-routed (is that a word?) and found Maura in the ER.

She seemed to be doing much better and was just staying until her IV fluids went through her. We were all so glad that she was okay!

Here is proof that Maura survived (and a tribute to the Shan Van!):

I love these pictures of Adrianna!! They were taken the same day as the visit from Grandma Eileen, but they were worthy of a separate post. hahaha

When my friend Shannon came to visit during my maternity leave, she got the most adorable outfit for Adrianna—a kitty cat outfit! It came complete with a cat bib and all! Check out some cute pictures here:
