December 2009

Adrianna met Santa for the first time today and she did pretty well! The Elks hosted their annual Christmas party and we had a great time.  It was a jam-packed 1 1/2 of fun and the kids loved all of the sugary treats. They had cookies, snacks, Christmas tree-shaped ice cream and Santa even came bearing gifts!

On Friday night, Austin and I went to Cold Stone (Adrianna was already sleeping, so Daddy stayed home with her) to celebrate my birthday a week late.  L ast Friday, we had to do inventory at work, so I was at work until 10 pm and didn’t get to celebrate my day with the fam.  So Friday was the perfect night to go out with Austin.  It was so much fun to have one-on-one time with Austin without any distractions. He thought he was such a big boy picking out what ice cream and toppings he wanted.  I love this kid!

Then he decided to make some goofy faces…typical for Bossy Aussie 🙂

FINALLY!  Adrianna’s first tooth broke through on Friday and her second tooth on Saturday (2 and 3 days short of her 10 month bday)!  Her gums have been bothering her for a while now, and her teeth decided to finally show themselves.  Nearly her entire gum line is bulging, so it probably won’t be too much longer until she has more teeth. As her teeth appear, her “baby” look is starting to disappear. I’m going to miss her gummy smile!!

I tried to get a few pics of her teeth and this is the best that Adrianna would let me get:

Here is the post about Austin’s first tooth: https://ourgillfamily.wordpress.com/2008/03/09/weve-broken-ground/ Do you think that Austin and Adrianna look alike?

St. Nick came to our house last night! Austin (and Adrianna) were very excited to see their stockings filled with candy, fruit, nuts and gifts.

Adrianna has been such a stinker when going down for her naps lately.  Thankfully, she falls asleep right away at nighttime, but naps have been a bit of a struggle.   The sun shines right into her room and she just wants to play.  Here are some pictures of her avoiding a nap today. How could you not love a cute face like that? 🙂

Adrianna is a very umm…noisy child.  Whether happy, sad, indifferent, bored or excited, she is making noise!   Not sure if she just likes the sound of her voice, likes the attention or wants to compete with the noise level of her brother, but it is cute and frustrating at the same time.  You can’t quiet her down, yet you can’t help but love the sound of her sweet little voice! Here is our little babe jumping up and down making as much noise as possible:

(As I was replaying the video to make sure that it posted, Austin said, “shhhh, quiet sister!” LOL)

For Thanksgiving 2009, we headed north to Ann Arbor to enjoy the holiday with my parents and younger sister (we missed the Schreiners!).  Unfortunately, the kids were both sick and I wasn’t feeling very well either. We made the trip anyway and were determined to enjoy some family time.  As you can see in the pictures below, it was difficult to get a picture of the four of us without someone looking how they felt. hahaha

Anyway, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my parents, Caitlin, and a couple of my mom’s co-workers.  My mom made an awesome meal and Brittan and I stuffed ourselves full! (Both kids slept through Thanksgiving meal since they weren’t feeling well).  It was great to get together with family and not worry about presents, going anywhere during the day or dressing up.  We have a lot to be thankful for this year and we couldn’t be happier.  We have two healthy, beautiful children and a healthy marriage that keeps us strong. Thank you God for all that You have given us! 🙂
