January 2011

Santa “Schaefer Claus” came to visit the Ruthsatz Christmas party again this year!  Austin wasn’t too sure about him, but once he saw that Santa came bearing presents, he was more than willing to sit on his lap.  Adrianna, on the other hand, was SO excited to see Santa. She walked right up to him and put her arms up and she wanted Santa to pick her up! She jibbered-jabbered about what she wanted for Christmas and was all smiles the rest of the night.

Christmas 2010 was another blessed event for us. We are so lucky to have such a loving, close family.  On Christmas Eve morning, we opened presents with the Roths (while skype-ing with the Schreiners) and then went to 4 pm mass and to the Ruthsatz family Christmas afterward.  All of these pictures are from Christmas Eve.

On December 23, 2010, the Williamsons hosted a Christmas party for SMCC friends and their significant others. We went to a great steakhouse, Strip, and went back to their house for card games and lots of fun!

For the weekend of December 17-19, 2010, I made the annual trip to Chicago for the Senses’ Reunion. It was SO nice to hang out with the girls, eat yummy food and enjoy some good ol’ Christmas fun!

Adrianna is such a sweetie!  Today, I was just watching her play and thinking about how fast she is growing up. Sometimes I step back and can’t believe how quickly she is becoming a little lady.  As crazy as she can be sometimes, she is such a sweetie and is always thinking of others.  As we were sitting together, this was our conversation:

Adrianna: What’s wrong, mommy?
Me: Nothing is wrong; I’m okay.

Adrianna: Are you sad?
Me: No, you make me happy!

Adrianna: Did you get an owie (ahhh-wee)?
Me: No, I’m not hurt.

Adrianna: Did you get a boo-boo?
Me: No, I’m okay.

Adrianna: Okay, well, I love you, mommy!

She was so worried about me and just wanted to make sure everything was okay. I love her!

One of my favorite times of the day is the routine before bedtime.  We get to spend time together as a family, no TV, no video games, just US.  Before bed tonight, I was rubbing/scratching Austin’s back and it was nice to just sit and have a conversation with him. Out of the blue, he said “Mommy, I don’t like my house. It’s too small.”  Shocked, I asked him what he meant and he said, “I don’t like our house; it’s too little. I want a big house.” So I asked who has a big house and he said “Grandpa Brad has a big house and so does Grandma Vicki. We just need more space, mom.”

I have no idea what spurred the idea of needing a bigger house, but it’s a funny coincidence. Our house is currently on the market and are hoping to sell it soon!

Let’s hope that Austin knows something that we don’t know! 🙂

More quirky things from the A-Team:

When Austin does something that makes him happy, like roll a high number in a board game, he always says “thumb up!” (not “thumbs up”)

Adrianna knows the way home from daycare already.  She will point what direction I need to turn and gets upset if I turn a different way to get gas, go to the store, etc…

Adrianna has become quite the climber. She likes to climb on top of people, on top of furniture and anything else she can find. When she gets to the top of whatever she’s climbing, she exclaims “I’m tall!!”

Adrianna always asks “what you doing?” Even if you are doing the same thing as 5 minutes prior, she still asks!

Austin insists on calling his Nintendo DSi, “D-I-S”.  We tell him that it’s a DSi, but he claims that we are wrong.

Adrianna loves blueberries, which Austin hates.  On the other hand, both kids agree that tacos are one of their favorites foods! They both also love guacamole and refried beans.

Austin loves lotions and creams.  He has really dry skin and always asks “mommy, can I have my cream? I’m itchy!” The funniest part is when he asks “mommy, can you put lotion on my buns?”

Adrianna is our little helper. When we unload the dishwasher, she says “I help! I help!”.  The other day, Brittan went upstairs to get something, but left his beer downstairs. Adrianna carried the beer all the way upstairs (without spilling a drop!) and handed it to Brittan and said “here, daddy!”

Austin LOVES watching football with his daddy.  He needs to know what which teams are playing, what their mascots are, what city they are from, and if the mascots are “happy or mad”.  When he hears all the stats, he then proclaims “I don’t like that team!” or “That team is my favorite!”  His favorite teams are: Michigan (‘go blue’ team), Notre Dame (‘go irish’ team), Cleveland Browns (‘go brownies’ team), Dallas Cowboys, NY Jets and Tennessee Titans.

Adrianna’s hair is a little dandelion most of the time because it is SO static-y!
