  • Her favorite songs are “Jealous” by Nick Jonas, “Hard Knock Life” from the movie Annie, and “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran.
  • She is very independent and makes her own snacks after school.
  • Loves snuggling (being cozy bozy) and having popcorn/movie nights. Austin has been reading the Harry Potter book series, so we have been watching the movies as a family together. She loves the movies, but some can be a bit scary to her.
  • Her favorite store is Justice. She could shop in there for hours and never get bored.
  • She still loves soft pretzels with cheese, but nachos with cheese are a close second.
  • Loves vanilla bean frapps for Starbucks.
  • She continues to wear a dress or skirt EVERY DAY. This includes wearing a jumper to school instead of pants. She has never worn pants to school (minus leggings and jeans on “spirit days”) in Kindergarten.
  • Her favorite colors are pink, purple and SPARKLE.
  • She continues to love gymnastics and bars is her favorite event. She always has an awesome “finish” at the end of each event and perfects it at home. We are so proud that she works so hard at gymnastics. She loves to cartwheel around the house! She loves getting new leotards and got a Michigan one for her birthday from Grandpa Brad and Grandma Therese. She even likes to watch gymnastics on TV, too. We are planning to go to Michigan next month to watch Big Ten championships in Ann Arbor.

  • She loves anything arts and crafts related. She loves the beads that you put according to the pattern and then use a ironing board to melt them. Her new favorite craft is Beados and creating necklaces with beads. She is so artsy and creative-we are proud of her!
  • Still loves the movie Frozen. She even has the Fatheads in her room of all the characters that she got for Christmas 2014.
  • She is in Girl Scouts this year and is loving it. She is going to the Daddy/Daughter Dance on Saturday, February 28, 2015 and can’t wait to be with her daddy! “I’m going to make a craft, eat dinner, dance and get a patch with my daddy! It’s gonna be so fun!” She also sold 291 boxes of Girl Scout cookies!
  • She thinks it is fun to pester her brother. She just knows what buttons to push.
  • She pronounces the “-ed” at the end of words and adds it when it isn’t needed. Jumped = jumpDID. Put= PutDID
  • Tries to take baths instead of showers. She got bath crystals for Christmas and her birthday, so she is getting away with it for now.
  • She would rather eat fruit and veggies instead of meat. She will try pretty much any food.
  • Her favorite food is plums.
  • Her best friend is McKenna Valentine.
  • Some of her favorite TV shows: 19 Kids & Counting, Gymnastics Shows, Dancing Shows (SYTYCD and DWTS)
  • Still loves the sleep in and stay up late, but she knows when she is tired and will ask to go to bed.
  • She loves to wear matching clothes with her American Girl doll, Kirsten
  • She really enjoys going to school and loves her teacher, Jane Gosser. Adri doesn’t like taking the bus, though, because it comes so early (6:43 am)
  • She splits between hot lunch and packed lunch. She likes the burgers and tacos at school.
  • She really wants to have a loose tooth like Austin, but none are budging yet.
  • Her reading has really improved the past few months. She loves reading signs when we are out and about or driving to see what they say. It has really opened a new world for her!
  • She loves shopping anywhere, even to the grocery store. She is my little helper and is learning all about the different fruits and veggies and what to look for when you are buying those foods.
  • She loves getting her legs and back scratched before bed. Then she likes to be tucked in nice and tight, including a flat sheet, which she never used until about a month ago.
  • She was excited to hear that she won’t need shots until she is 11! Dr. Dutko said that she is very healthy, but petite. He said “with her body type, she would make a great gymnast!” She said that she does gymnastics and she was proud!

Here are some of the things that Austin likes at age 7!

Easter Egg Hunt 2014

Easter Egg Hunt 2014

— Austin LOVES the Game Show Network and watches it nearly every day after school. His favorite shows at Deal or No Deal, Press Your Luck and Minute to Win It (all reruns of old shows).

— He and Adrianna started taking the bus from the new house in March and they really like it. The only problem is that it picks them up so early at 6:42 am!

— His favorite place for a treat is Mikey’s for frozen yogurt (with lots of candy toppings as his choice!)

— His favorite food is still cheeseburgers and french fries and this has been consistent since he was about 2 years old. His favorite fruit is apples (slices, not whole) and his favorite vegetable is cucumbers (plain, with no ranch or salt).

—He has a love for fishing, and wants to fish in the pond in our backyard. We aren’t sure if there are fish in that pond yet, though, as it is so shallow.

— His favorite sports are still football, basketball and baseball. But he got a 4 square ball for his birthday and he likes playing that. He loves playing on the new basketball hoop that he got for his birthday.

— He is reading at a sixth grade reading level and reads at 245 WPM (words per minute).

— He has improved SO much in spelling. In fact, he has gotten 100% on all of his spelling tests in first grade.

— He still bites his finger nails – yuck!!

— Austin is such a snuggler and has such a sweet personality. The other day, I was scratching his arm while we were waiting for his doctor’s appointment and he said “dad made such a good decision!” I asked him what he meant and he said “He made such a good decision to ask you to be his girlfriend and then his wife. What a good choice he made!” Awww…be still my heart!

— He loves to do a “victory dance” when he scores at a game. It’s so funny!

— He continues to excel in math and really enjoy it! He even said the other day that he likes math better than recess!

— Austin is really looking forward to our trip to Australia for Caitlin’s wedding this July. One of things he’s really excited about, is playing WiiU with Rohan!

— He still doesn’t like cake or cupcakes. For his birthday party, we got a cookie cake instead.

— Other than apples, he refuses to eat any fruit. Instead, I make fruit smoothies with fruit, orange juice and milk. He will eat any fruit combination of smoothies (strawberries, blueberries, bananas, mangoes, raspberries, etc…), but will not eat fruit plain.

— He lost two teeth exactly one month apart! March 25 and April 25, just shy of his 7th birthday.

— Austin really likes the I-Spy books and Mystery Books (i.e. Encyclopedia Brown) and Captain Underpants books.

— He is obsessed with money and wants to buy a hotel someday. He is fascinated by hotels and was ecstatic when we stayed at Kalahari in December 2013.

— He loves to “photobomb” pictures or give people “bunny ears” or “moose ears” to be silly!

Here are Austin’s stats at age 7 (from his doctor’s appointment on 5/7/14):

At age 5, here is what Adrianna is up to!

— Since we just moved to the new house on March 23, 2014, Adrianna loves to play in her new toy room in the basement. She also loves her (much bigger) bedroom!

— She did a biddy cheer clinic through SCCS and she loved it! She just stood there for the first chant, but she warmed right up and did the rest of the chants and the dance to Pharell’s “Happy”.

— She still loves almost all fruits and veggies. She doesn’t like tomatoes, but loves ketchup. Her new favorite condiment is ranch.

— She loves riding the bus and going to school. Her best friends are Addy F, Ella G, Ruby C and Meredith J.

— She continues to love gymnastics at the Y. Her favorite event is the bars because she loves to go high!

— Her favorite treat is Mikey’s, the local frozen yogurt shop. She mostly get fruit toppings (kiwi, strawberries, etc…) but also loves chocolate chips with sprinkles.

— Her favorite classes at school are music, art and gym.

— She is learning to read and is doing great!

— Her favorite store is Target. She also likes to go grocery shopping and pick out produce.

— She loves to wear her Anna dress (from the movie Frozen) that Austin got her for her birthday. She loves to wear all her dresses now that she can see them all in her closet at once. One of her favorite “dresses” is her Michigan cheerleading outfit.

— Adrianna loves to ride her bike around the new cul-de-sac.

— She started taking showers when she turned five instead of baths. But she LOVES the new “hot tub” in the master bathroom.

— Still loves the color purple and it was even the theme of her birthday party. Everyone had to wear purple and she had a “Frozen” birthday cake.

— She could listen to the Frozen soundtrack on repeat all day long.

— Her favorite ice cream is cookies and cream and chocolate.

Adrianna is 5!

Our little love, Adrianna, is a WHOLE HAND-full now! We are so proud of the smart, loving, fun girl that she is becoming. I will write a separate post on her 5 year old self, but for now, here are her stats from the doctor’s check-up on Tuesday, February 25, 2014:

Height: 41 inches
Weight: 37.6 pounds

Both of these are in the 25th percentile. She’s growing right where she should be!
